The students of Doon Valley Public School organized a small cultural function in the premises, on the eve of ‘Teacher’s Day’, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, . The festivities gained momentum with the arrival of the guests of honour, Mr. Ajay Thakur and Mr. Rohit Rana , the Kabbadi players of repute. The entire atmosphere echoed with the sounds of the students wishing their teachers,’ Happy Teacher’s Day”, and presenting them hand written cards. The Head Boy,Vasu Sharma and the Head Girl, Sakshi Sharma along with the members of ‘The Studens’ Council’, put up a marvellous show and enthralled one and all with a melodious song, mime, a skit and a soul-stirring dance performance. The function concluded with an enlightening speech by Ajay Thakur, where he talked about the significance of the sports and games in a student’s life along with the studies. He categorically called upon the students to set targets for themselves and work whole-heartedly towards achieving their goals.

Inter House Science Quiz Competition

Last week on 31st July, 2014 an Inter House Science Quiz competition was organized in the school premises in which four participants from all the four houses namely – Ekta, Pragati, Shakti and Shanti participated. Questions related to science were asked which the contestants answered confidently. Eventually, Shakti House with its group of competitors – Ritika (IX), Mehakpreet (X), Munish (XI) and Hitesh (XII) won the competition. Ekta House bagged second place. The Principal applauded the efforts of the winners and encouraged them to participate enthusiastically in future endeavors.

Investiture Ceremony

Doon Valley Public School celebrated Investiture Ceremony on 25th July 2014 in the school premises, presided over by Chairman, Mr. Rajeev Sharma. Sakshi Sahejpal (XII) and Vasu Sharma (XII) were selected as Head Boy and Head Girl respectively. Nitika (XI) and Piyush Sharma (XI) were entrusted with the responsibilities of Asstt. Head Girl and Asstt. Head Boy respectively. Apart from this, 48 students from the four houses were also inducted into the ‘Students’ Council’ which included captains, vice Captains and prefects. The event was made memorable by an inspirational song sung by the school choir, which lifted the spirits of the children and reverberated the atmosphere with an air of motivation. The newly selected members of students’ council seemed confident to shoulder the newly entrusted responsibilities.

Doon Valley Initiates Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Nalagarh

Rich tributes were paid to the ‘Father of Nation’, Sh. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, on 2nd October,2014, in the premises of Doon Valley Public School by the students with the conduct of a myriad of activities like fancy dress competition, quiz competition and bhajan competition, depicting Gandhian philosophy and principles. The students of classes VI to VIII impersonating different stages of Gandhiji’s life appealed one and all to adopt truth, peace, righteousness and cleanliness and make it a way of life. They also participated in a cleanliness drive and cleaned the surrounding area in Saraswati Vihar to mark the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

Likewise the students from Classes IX to XII celebrated in their own way by taking out a procession from Court Complex upto Tara Devi Temple, shouting slogans of peace, non-violence, cleanliness and making an appeal to general public to keep the body, mind and environment clean and green. Students of classes XI and XII staged street plays in Gole Market and Court complex to sensitize the people about corruption and child labour and urged them to join hands to eradicate such evil practices from society.

The SDM of Nalagarh Mr. Lalit Jain, the Chairman of the institution Mr. Rajeev Sharma, the Principal Mr. P N Ashok, the officials of SDM Office, the DSP and the Police personnel, the media members, general public, school staff members and Doon Valley students actively participated in ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and the SDM administered an oath to all the members to act in a manner to make our country a corruption-free India.

The efforts of the students were greatly applauded by the local residents as for the first time such an initiative was taken by any school in this region to aware the people about the need to maintain hygiene, cleanliness and purity in life.

Display of Excellence by ‘the Doons’ through Exhibition

‘The Doons’, organized an exhibition in the premises of Doon Valley Public School, on 18th

Oct.,2014,with a view to draw out the hidden potential and to strengthen the conceptual

knowledge of the students. The exhibition witnessed the participation of students from classes

VI-XII. It was a part of Term-2 evaluation process in which the students made purposeful and

innovative models, charts and project reports related to Science ,Social -science ,Commerce,

English, Humanities etc. It was heartening to see the students come out with thought –

provoking and innovative models like rain-water harvesting, models representing working of

banking sector, hydraulic jack, models based on conservation of energy, waste management,

human anatomy and many more.

• This exhibition provided an opportunity to students to understand the concepts in depth as

they got a chance to put their thinking faculties into action. The confidence with which they

explained their models to the parents was amazing. The parents seemed happy at the initiative

taken by the school authorities to explore and tap the latent skills of the young minds, thereby

making them more competitive and experimental.

An Orientation Session by Tata Interactive Class Edge

A panel of Technical Experts from Tata Interactive (Delhi)- Mr. Anshul Omar, Mr.

Jagdeep Singh Arora and Mr. Matinder Singh, conducted a second phase of an

Orientation Session for the teaching faculty of Doon Valley Public School. The

purpose of the session was to apprise the teachers with the effective usage of

latest technology to make the teaching –learning process a life-long learning

experience. The teachers learnt the usage of various tools and techniques inside

the classroom for a better concept – clarity. The teachers were informed about

the need of prior planning, in the absence of which the requisite objectives

can’t be achieved. The session was highly interactive as the teachers raised their

queries, which the experts answered confidently. In a nutshell, the session was a

great success as it proved to be an enriching experience for the teachers. All the

staff members including the Principal participated enthusiastically.

Vigilance Awareness Week 2014 celebrated in the premises

On the eve of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week 2014’, Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh, organized

an event on 31st

occasion, the school conducted an Inter House Open Debate on ‘e-Governance – a way to

smooth governance’ in which students of classes VI to XII actively participated and enlightened

co-students with the present day significance of e-Governance. The students who actively

participated in this debate were – Rudranksh (Class: VI), Shubhankar, Aarushi, Swati (Class: X),

Prachetas (Class: XI), Varun Sharma, Vasu Sharma and Rashmi (Class:XII). Following this, the

enthusiastic students shared their views in favour & against e-Governance. Ms. Lomita, the Co-
ordinator of the programme was instrumental in organising this event and infused a spark of

enthusiasm among them, urgning them to participate more in such activities where they can

apply their grey matter & develop their thinking skills.

Doon Valley Bags First Place in C.B.S.E. 3RD International Life Skills and Wellbeing Summit – 2014

The evening of 16th November ‘ 2014 witnessed the students of Doon Valley Public School,

Nalagarh performing exceptionally well at the 3rd International Life Skills, Values, Gender,

School Health and Wellbeing Summit – 2014 held at Delhi Public School, Ludhiana. In this event

schools of five states and U.T. participated. Four students of our school bagged first position in

‘Gender Values – Theme Song’ and did a commendable job to claim position ‘Thematic Jingles

and Global Exhibition’ category. The Honourable Director Rajeev Sharma and Principal P N Ashok

congratulated the students on this memorable achievement and appreciated the efforts of the

Programme Coordinator Mr. Shailendra Rahar.

Doon Valley Holds Dental Health Checkup

A  Dental Health Checkup for students of Doon Valley Public School – Nalagarh was

conducted by the dentists of Bhojia Dental College, Bhud on 29th November,2014. The

event was sponsored by Colgate India Ltd. In the first phase of the programme 210

students of classed VII and VIII were covered. Dr. Monika along with six other members .   

from Bhojia Dental College and Mr. Mohinder and his group members from Colgate

India were present during the programme. The school management appreciated and

thanked the Director of Bhojia Dental College and Colgate India for their support and

cooperation to organize a dental health & wellbeing programme for the school students.

Mrs. Priyanka and Ms. Anuradha Rana, the school staff members, coordinated the


Doon Valley Public School observed ‘World AIDS Day’

On the occasion of ‘World AIDS Day’ on 1st December,2014, a special morning assembly was

conducted which included a group song, a speech and a short play. The students of classes X

and XI namely – Prachetas, Ankit, Jai Ahuja, Amit Sharma, Gurpreet, Shivangi and Divyanshi

staged a skit through which they depicted the problems, which the AIDS-Affected people have

to face in every sphere of life.

The Principal of the school, while lauding the efforts of the students for raising this issue which

is so rampant today, appealed to the youth to reach out more to the people at large so that the

myths associated with this disease can be eliminated and people adopt a friendly attitude

towards people afflicted with HIV.

Doon Students Excel in CBSE International Summit

Four Students Mst. Varun Sharma (Class: XII), Mst. Prachetas (Class: XI), Mst. Pankaj (Class: XI)

& Mst. Piyush Sharma (Class: XI) of Doon Valley Public School, Nalagarh participated in the

‘Third International – Life Skills, Values, Gender, School Health & Well Being Summit’ which

was held from 10th to 14th December,2014 at Summer Fields Public School, New Delhi. 180

prominent CBSE Schools from India and abroad participated in the Summit. The summit helped

the students develop Confidence, Power of Critical Thinking and Art of Decision Making which

are very important life skills that help one to face challenges in life with ease and élan. 

Students of Doon Valley bagged the second prize in the Theme Song – Gender and Values

‘Betiyan’ and were awarded with Certificates and medals for their spectacular performance.

Students showcased their immense talent which left everyone enthralled. CBSE Chairman Mr.

Vineet Joshi, Director Mrs. Sadhana Parashar and Educational Dignitaries were impressed to see

the students hailing from such a remote area performing exceedingly well and praised them for

their outstanding display.

The Chairman of the school Mr. Rajeev Sharma and The Principal Mr. P N Ashok complimented

the teachers Mr. Shailendra Rahar, Dr. Rajeev Pathania and the participants for their

accomplishment and marked it as a great milestone in the 13 years history of Doon Valley

Public School.
